Zaf’s U11s Oakleigh Cannons finished their Preseason Gala Day at Dandenong City SC with a Won 1 - Drew 1 - Lost 1 record.
In Game 01, the Cannons came up against Dandenong City (B) and played positive attacking football to earn themselves a 2-0 halftime lead after a thunderous goal from captain Marcus (see video #1) & a fine finish from Theodore playing up front as striker. The 2nd half was a bit tighter but the Cannons were rewarded a penalty after constant pressure which Jimmy calmly dispatched (see video #2) to make the final score 3-0.

Zaf’s Cannons barely had time to rest before Game 02 was scheduled to go against Dandenong City (A) and it was a physical battle from the outset. After a draw-less 1st half, Dandenong City struck on the counter to take an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd half before the Cannons struck back five minutes later with a goal to Theodore to make it 1-1. Both sides had opportunities to find a winner but it finished a stalemate at full time.
In the Cannons’ third and final game v a very strong Berwick City side, Zaf’s Cannons (with no subs left due to injuries) fought to the bitter end in a very proud display of relentless attacking football to only go down 2-1 after being down 2-0 at halftime. Charlie scored the Cannons 2nd half goal which was nicely set up by Jason who gave a lovely pass to Theodore who in return laid the ball across to Charlie to score.
The Gala Day was a solid 3 match preseason hit out for Zaf’s Cannons before the proper season commences in April. Go Cannons! 🔵⚪️⚽️
