Cannons Draw 1-1 v Sth Melbourne but Unlucky Not To Claim Victory

Zaf's Cannons continued on from last weekend's win in another impressive performance against South Melbourne away at Princes Park in Caulfield South this morning. After finding themselves 1-0 down after a freakish goal to the home side very early in the first half, the Cannons kept applying the pressure on attack with several missed opportunities in the final third. Goalkeeper Athan also made a crucial save that prevented South Melbourne doubling their lead late in the half. After half time, the Cannons came out and continued to push the away side for an equalizer and they were finally rewarded when Striker Jason put away a loose ball in the box to level the scores with 18 mins still left to play.

About 5 minutes later, the Cannons claimed the ball went over the line after a shot from Winger Theodore but the goal wasn't awarded by the referee. Both sides had set piece opportunities to snatch a winner but in the end the match finished 1-1 in what was an exciting game of football. Next Sunday, the sides meet again at the Cannons home ground Jack Edwards Reserve in an Oakleigh v South Melbourne rematch for the final game of the 2019 season.

GO CANNONS!
