Cannons Lose First League Match of 2019

Updated: Jul 16, 2019

Zaf’s Cannons went down 4-1 to the Bulleen Lions in a fiery encounter in wet slippery conditions at Davies Reserve this morning.

The result meant Oakleigh suffered their first League loss of 2019 after being unable to turn around a 1-0 Half-time deficit despite having more shots on goal than their opposition.

Bulleen Lions increased their lead to 3-0 midway through the 2nd half but shortly after the home side sparked a mini comeback with numerous chances at goal and then the Cannons were finally rewarded when Winger Charlie pounced on a deflected shot on goal from left back Alex to peg the score back to 3-1 with 6 minutes left to go.

However moments later, a misguided pass across goal from Ethan, playing at Right Back, found the Bulleen player‘s feet who took the opportunity with both hands and put the result beyond doubt.

Zaf’s Cannons now have to quickly put the result behind them as they travel to Gardiners Creek Reserve to play the Eastern Lions next weekend.

Come on you Cannons! ⚽️⚪️🔵
