Cannons Go Down Fighting in 3rd Straight Loss

Zaf’s Cannons have lost their third straight game 3-2 against Ashburton Utd SC at Davies Reserve this morning but it was a very impressive come back by Zaf’s Cannons in the 2nd half.

Down 1-0 at half-time, the away side scored back to back goals in a matter of minutes to lead 3-0 early into the 2nd stanza. Oakleigh were forced to chase the game and began to play at a higher tempo, creating numerous chances on goal with some expansive football.

With about 15 minutes to go, Ashburton Utd let through an own goal after after midfielder Alex put a lovely through ball to Striker Ethan which was cleared away by the Ashburton Utd defender but only as far as the back of the net. Five minutes later Mikey found some space and slammed home a 2nd goal to make it 3-2 with just 5 mins left to go.

However time was the enemy and the away side held on grimly to take the victory in what was a very entertaining game of football.

Well done to all the boys on a superb effort!

Next weekend, Zaf's Cannons travel to East Kew to take on the Panthers.
